THERAPY FOR WOMEN LEADERS WHO CAN'T STOP PEOPLE-PLEASING
Relational EMDR & depth therapy · Baltimore, MD & virtual across Maryland
YOU LEAD WITH CONFIDENCE ON THE OUTSIDE,
AND BRACE FOR DISAPPROVAL ON THE INSIDE.
You're capable, respected, and trusted. People count on you.
But, a hard conversation, disappointing others, or a moment of being seen as anything other than nice can still send you spinning.
Does this feel familiar?
You say yes before you've even checked whether you want to.
You rehearse difficult conversations for days, then soften your message until it barely says what you meant.
You over-prepare, overdeliver, and over-explain so no one can find fault.
You lay awake worried that an employee, a client, or colleague is mad at you.
Someone's tone in a meeting or a short email can ruin your whole day.
You avoid asking for what you're worth, whether that's a raise, a rate, or credit, because it might make someone uncomfortable.
You're the one everyone leans on, and you don't know who you'd lean on.
You wonder who you'd be as a leader if you weren't so afraid of being disliked.
THIS ISN'T A CONFIDENCE PROBLEM-
People pleasing is Your Armor.
People-pleasing usually isn't a personality flaw or a lack of skill. It's a brilliant adaptation. When steady acceptance wasn't guaranteed growing up, especially from your mother (or she modeled people pleasing) you learned to read the room, anticipate needs, and earn your place by being good, helpful, and easy. That adaptation helped protect you and succeed.
Now, in leadership, it's costing you your voice, your energy, and your sense of self. Leadership skills workshops can teach you what to say. Therapy helps you understand why it feels so unsafe to say it, and works towards resolving what is heals at the root.
IMAGINE YOURSELF…
Saying no without a spiral of guilt afterward.
Disagree in a meeting and feel steady in your body, not shaky.
Ask for what you need and let other people have their reactions.
Your worth no longer rises and falls with someone else's approval.
Lead from who you are, not from who you think you need to be.
Have space to receive care and support, not just give it.
HOW I HELP
I'm an adult daughter, too, and a business owner who knows how early wounds follow us into the way we lead. Together, we work beneath the surface using:
Relational EMDR to process the experiences that taught you acceptance had to be earned
IFS (parts work) to get to know the people-pleasing part and what it's protecting
Psychodynamic & attachment-based therapy to understand how old relational patterns show up at work
Somatic approaches to help your body learn that it's safe to take up space
This is deep, tender, and empowering work. It isn't about becoming harder or less caring. It's about letting your care include you.
